Trencher Attachment Chain Options

06/17/2015

What is the best type of digging chain for my trencher
attachment? That all depends on the ground conditions you’re mostly digging.
The traditional cup tooth style has been a proven cutting system for many years
especially in moderate to light digging conditions. In tougher conditions, a
full carbide tooth version chain is preferred for better performance and wear
life. If your conditions are wide ranging then the best solution would be a
“combo” chain where there is a mix of traditional cup teeth in combination with
carbide teeth. This gives you some of the better clean out capacity of the cup
tooth while having the performance of the carbide to help in those tougher
conditions.

Selecting the chain is just the first step, maintaining it
will provide the best long-term performance and dependability. Keep in mind that
a dull chain on a trencher attachment is no better than a dull chain on a chain
saw. You always want to keep some spare parts on hand because you can never
predict a broken tooth. Since your chain
digs in a progressive pattern, a missing or broken tooth will prematurely wear
the remaining teeth.

For the trencher attachments we manufacture, we offer all
the most popular trencher chain combinations from 3’ to 5’ digging depth and up
to 12” wide digging widths. For more information, visit our products page trencher attachments for skid steer loaders.
